Where it makes sense
A 4K monitor, or 1440p at 240Hz and above. It is also a capable card for video editing and 3D work that benefits from NVIDIA's CUDA and encoder support.
Power
Rated at 360W with an 850W power supply recommended. Use a native 12V-2x6 cable from a current ATX 3.x power supply where you can.
Pairing a CPU
At 4K the GPU does most of the work, but a fast CPU keeps frame times smooth at high refresh. The X3D chips in the Ryzen 9000 range are a common match.
Common questions
RTX 5080 or RTX 5090?
The RTX 5090 has twice the memory (32GB) and much more performance, but draws 575W and costs far more. For gaming alone, the 5080 is the more balanced choice.
Will an RTX 5080 fit my case?
